The Seymour Performers Workshop 2023 Annual General Meeting will be held at 11am on Sunday 5 February, and all are welcome to attend.
We are always keen to hear from people interested in joining the committee and helping support the Workshop, and would welcome nominations for new committee members.
Venue: Mitchell Shire Concert Band Hall, Pollard Street, Chittick Park, Seymour
As many of you are aware, the Seymour community has been significantly impacted by the recent flood events. Our hearts go out to local residents and businesses that have suffered losses and damage.
Unfortunately, both The Schoolhouse Theatre in Tallarook Street and the Les Bell Pavilion in Kings Park Seymour, were also inundated by flood waters. Many of the company’s costumes, sets, props and curtains have been destroyed and both venues have suffered significant damage.
We have a big task ahead of us as we need to completely empty both venues and relocate any of the costumes, sets and equipment that were able to be salvaged. We’ve also had to dismantle our theatrette in The Schoolhouse Theatre and put this into temporary storage.
We have been overwhelmed by the show of support from the community and would like to extend our heartful thanks to the amazing band of volunteers who have been assisting us with this very smelly, dusty and damp task.
A number of local organisations and businesses have stepped in to offer us temporary storage and rehearsal space and we are most grateful for this.
A special shout out to the members of the Australian Defence Force from Puckapunyal who helped us move piles of costumes, equipment and staging – an incredible effort.
We’d also like to extend our thanks to our SPW members & friends, Seymour Veterinary Surgery, Seymour Dental Clinic, MH Truck & Trailer Repairs, Seymour Ag Society, Kings Park Committee members, Seymour Scout Group, Seymour Anglican Christ Church, Seymour College, Seymour Flexible Learning Centre and Mitchell Shire Council. This truly is a wonderful and generous community.
We have been asked by many people if there is an opportunity to make a donation towards our recovery efforts – we are most grateful for this generosity and have established a fundraising page for anyone who would like to donate.
Seymour Performers Workshop is excited to announce our 2022 major musical will be Annie! After more than 2 years with our theatre lights dimmed and our curtains drawn we can’t wait to bring this much loved classic to the stage in Seymour this November. Auditions will be held on Sunday 19th of June. Click here for more information.

Daddy – noun. A child’s word for a father.
2021 started off the same as everyone else in Victoria. Emerging from a strict lockdown.
This was Jai’s year. He would marry the love of his life, perform at Melbourne International Comedy Festival and change jobs… oh yeah. And have a baby! Well, Jai’s wife Makayla would have the baby.
How is Jai coping? Is he cut out to be a father? And what’s it like being a father at 23? Well, find out when Jai Cameron returns to Seymour Performer’s Workshop for 1 night only prior to his season at Melbourne International Comedy Festival with a new dark stand-up comedy where you should expect the unexpected.
Organise the babysitter and purchase your tickets before they sell out.
